Verner Panton

Danish, 1926 - 1998
Verner Panton was a Danish designer who played a significant role in the development of modern furniture design during the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on February 13, 1926, in Gamtofte, Denmark, and died on September 5, 1998, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Panton's work often featured bright colors and bold geometric shapes, and he experimented with a variety of materials, including plastic, fiberglass, and metal. He is perhaps best known for his Panton Chair, a molded plastic chair that was the first to be produced in a single piece. The chair was introduced in 1967 and became an instant classic, winning numerous design awards and earning a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Throughout his career, Panton designed a wide range of furniture, lighting, and other objects, including the Fun lamp, the Heart Cone Chair, and the S Chair. His designs continue to be popular today and are highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts alike.
